The income tax department said that in the first four months of the current financial year, the corporate tax levied on companies’ income increased by 34 percent. The department did not disclose the exact amount of the tax collection, it said, ”Corporate tax collection in the fiscal year 2022-23 till July 31, 2022 is 34 percent higher than the previous fiscal year.” The total corporate tax collection for the year 2021-22 is 7.23 lakh crore rupees, which is 58 percent more than the tax collection for the year 2020-21.
