The government of India recently asked Google and Apple to remove the Battleground Mobile India (BGMI) game from the Play Store. Now, BGMI app is not available for download in India. Since its launch in July 2021, Battleground Mobile India (BGMI) has been downloaded more than 100 million times in the country. BGMI’s developer Crafton Inc. announced its income for the June quarter.

The company said that during the first half of the year, it had achieved an increase in adding new users in India, along with the increase in the company’s revenue. In addition, the company said that the BGMI Masters tournament, which was organized in partnership with domestic Nodwin Gaming, and was broadcast on TV channel Star Sports, had a total of 24 million TV viewers and 200 million viewers.
According to Crafton, its global revenue grew 3% year-on-year (YoY) in the first half of 2022, while operating profit grew 18% YoY. In May, the company said that for the first quarter of the year, 95% of its revenue came from international markets. In the quarter ending June 2022, the company’s total revenue was approximately 325 million dollars.

Like PUBG Mobile, BGMI also became the favorite game for Indians in its short tenure. In 2022, the combined price of the top BGMI tournaments was around 6 to 8 crore rupees. In comparison, according to a professional gamer Devdeep Dhar, India’s second largest eSports game, Valorant’s annual prize pool, is not even 15% of BGMI.
